The landscape arround of the "New Slaughterhouse" was in the former time a marshland of a small river, the "Weißeritz".
This banks left on the river Elbe, was planned to use as maneuver area for the soldiers of the garision of Dresden in the 19th century. But it was to wet and muddy.
With the urban development of Dresden was drained this area and on a place of 90ha was buildet between 1906 to 1910 the "New Slaughterhouse" of Dresden.
This complex had been designed by Hans Erwein, the former City architect of Dresden.
This business as Slaughterhouse run to until 1992.
The buildings from the livestock area accommodate offices, local companies, Showrooms and the Ostrale Dresden.
